The basic sequence to scan a log is this:
1. Select  Log Scanning Mode from the main menu.

2. Remain still for 3 seconds while the AR view starts. Start the scan.

3. While standing at one log end, walk down the length of the log with the scanning device at a 20-30 degree angle from the ground, to capture the side/bottom of one side of the log as you walk.

4. When you reach the end of the log, perform the Log End Scanning sequence by pointing the camera cross-hairs at the center of the log face, and tapping on the screen.

5. A green reticle will appear on the screen. Enclose the log end face in the circle and press the "Done" button.

6. Walk down the opposite length of the log with the scanning device at a 20-30 degree angle from the ground, to capture the other side/bottom of the log as you walk towards log end #2.

7. When you reach the end of the log, perform the Log End Scanning sequence by pointing the camera cross-hairs at the center of the log face, and tapping on the screen.

8. After both ends are scanned, the refining stage begins. Point the reticle at the ground or sawmill bunks and press the button to confirm the background location.

9. The refining scan begins. Start by "spray painting" around the end of the log where you are standing.

10. Walk down the length of the log with the scanning device pointed straight down to capture the top of the log.

11. When you reach the other end, perform the same "spray painting" method around the barrel of the end.

12. Before completing the scan, place the scanning device so that the entire length of the log is visible in the view, and press the button to complete the scan. An image is taken when the scan completion is initiated, so it is advisable to point the device at the scanned log so the image can be used for later reference.

13. Once the scan is complete, the user is prompted to make minor adjustments to the automatic log end bounding detection. Make adjustments as necessary, or cycle through the "next/continue" buttons until the full scan is processed and the Log Scan View displays.
